Back by popular demand, the funnier and more stylish Hope, a/k/a Hopey & Lola, is talking about some of the inaugural balls in D.C. Since I’m attempting to be a D.C. blogger, I thought this would be a great way to show something that makes the city unique.
Big G and I are too old for inaugural balls so I’m living vicariously through these three lovely ladies. Without further explanation, here’s Hope:
I’m back antler lovers!!! While I may not be inspirational [TO ASHLEY] yet, I happen to yield high blog hits, so here I am again bloggin my little heart out. It’s true, Ashley is neither cool enough nor stylish enough to attend an inaugural ball and she’s also a Republican so my guess is she’s fully aware that she would spontaneously combust upon entry.
I had the distinct honor of being given free tickets to the Human Rights Campaign’s 2013 Inauguration Ball. What can I say? I am super well-connected. I also LOVE GAY MEN. And they love me. So this was a perfect ball to attend and scratch that one off the bucket list. Inaugural balls are plentiful in DC but unfortunately (or fortunately depending on whether or not you watch Fox News) El Presidente only attends one. Luckily, Ash’s pal Kate went to that one and captured some good pics.
Here are the four events we are highlighting:
- Human Rights Campaign “Out for Equality” ball husbando and I went to (Cyndi Lauper performed)
- Kate, friend of Ashley, went to the Official Inaugural ball (who didn’t perform? Alicia Keyes, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Katy Perry, and more)
- Kate’s boyf Dana went to the White House staffers ball (Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett performed)
- Molly, our mutual friend, went to the Bipartisan Inaugural Gala Celebrating American Agriculture (the Wil Gravatt Band performed)
Steve (husbando) and me at the HRC Ball. Bless his straight little heart for letting me ballroom dance with the boys all night. He took video like an adorably uncomfortable and loyal husband but I couldn’t figure out how to upload to the blog.
Molly and Drew – by far the chicest couple at the Agriculture Ball. Love the jewel tone gown.
Don’t worry Molly, when (read: if) a Republican ever gets elected, you’ll be invited to a much more glamorous ball. I spy a gingham tablecloth…
Kate and Dana getting ready to watch the President and the lovey First Lady dance to J. Hud.
Real deal ball.
The President and the First Lady. He is obviously saying something awesome and inspirational. Per usual.
POTUS and FLOTUS – it’s taken from far away but I loved that red Jason Wu number she was rocking.
The First Lady of Pop, Lady Gaga and the Legend, Tony Bennett.
Insiders say Gaga was overly gracious to the event staff even going as far as to offer them water as they were setting up her stage. On the other hand Katy Perry was a total B and has horrible acne. Guess she should have renewed that Proactiv contract of hers.
Told you I was well-connected.
So there’s your inaugural ball recap folks. DC is a wonderful place to live for thousands of reasons, this is just one very special one that we get to take part in every 4 years.
Until next time, BUY SOME ANTLERS.
Ashley here:
Wow, that was hilar.
Just a side note, the views expressed by the author are not necessarily the views of the site owner. Katy P, I’m sure you weren’t really a huge B.
Another side note & more evidence I’m old–to me, the First Lady of pop is Madonna, obvi, not Lady G.
xoxo, ashley

She and her family live in the Washington, D.C. metro area.
Ashley, Madonna is the Queen of Pop, and always will be. But there are other titles to be had so Lady Gaga is clearly the obvious choice for First Lady of Pop, given she has performed for POTUS and FLOTUS.
I speak for the blogosphere when I say that Hope’s guest blogging is far too infrequent
