Second Tuesday Starring Hope Wheeler

Very excited to have Hope back today posting about her wedding.  This post is timely.  February is all about  LOVE.  Hope got married in February.  She’s about to celebrate her first wedding anniversary.  Tell us, is it like law school–first years is the hardest?  Ha!

Here’s Hope:

First off, I did not attend law school because I am way too smart for that racket. So I have no idea the hardships therein. That being said, sorry to be all: “my life is awesome” but our first year of marriage was…awesome. Sure there were a few bumps in the road and maybe a couple fist fights (jokes) but in all honesty, in 2012 we:

  1. Got hitched- Quick-like, Jamaica mon
  2. Bought a house
  3. Continue to raise a remarkably well-rounded French Bulldog

And we still love each other, laugh a lot, and are super happy.

No offense to anyone who got married in a traditional style wedding – let me throw out the disclaimer that I LOVE WEDDINGS. But I love being a guest at weddings. Heck, I even love being a bridesmaid in weddings. But when it came to planning my own wedding, I panicked. Like full-on: OMG, OMG, I can’t. I don’t want to. Do it for me. WAAHHHH-style.

So we invited our immediate families and quietly snuck away to paradise, The Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios.

We did it! Boom. Married.

I like this picture because it shows my rad hair, gorgeous Jamaican flowers, and Palmer Graham, the lady who is solely responsible for my eternal obsessed with Jamaica. And her. She’s fabulous.

We’re off to Jamaica this Friday for a week, I cannot wait. If you need an excuse to get away and you want to go to a historic, wonderful, magical place (without kids!) check out the Jamaica Inn and tell them we sent you.

Some of the Inn’s historic guests included: Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller and Winston Churchhill. Some of the recent celebs that have been spotted on this glorious beach include: Kate Moss, Will Forte (who we chatted with on the beach, NBD) and The Almighty Queen of the Universe Lady Beyonce Knowles-Carter herself.
So, this place is no joke, obvs.

Unfortunately our daughter, Zoey, wasn’t able to attend the wedding. With the whole international flights, customs, etc it would have really delayed things (do not think for one second I didn’t look into it).
But here she is anyway in her party bandana, ready to throw down!

Alright antler lovers, it’s been real. I’ll be back next month to blog about the wedding party that Ashley, Big G, and my best gal pals threw for us in DC!

Ashley:

Thanks so much, Hopey, for posting today.  It was truly a wonderful wedding and I was so glad to be a part of it.

Friends, hope everyone is gearing up for V’day.  Gentlemen, if nothing else, go to the grocery store and fetch a $4.99 bouquet of something that’s not carnations.  Back tomorrow with V’day ideas for the whole family.

xoxo, Ashley
